Senior CTE Expo


          So this past Friday was our final CTE Expo and our last time representing Web Design Academy. The objective of the Expo was to practice our communication skills and our ability to basically "sell" the class and everything which it offers and of course to attract some fresh blood into the Web Design Academy to see if they can rise up to the challenge. To prepare for the CTE Expo I completed two previous projects which we were given earlier and had them displayed on a computer so our visitors would be able to view my work and what I have done with my time in Web Design. During the actual event in the beginning at my first scheduled session I admit I tried a bit to dodge people including the teacher but later during that same session I tried to find some visitors to see if the would come with me to see my previous work and see if I can answer any questions they have about the class and of course tell them everything the class has to offer for their future. In my later sessions I did talk to multiple visitors and even talked to Luis a special visitor who came to look for new blood to maybe offer an internship to and I showed him my work and how I created my product and some problems that I had doing it.
            What I think went well during the Expo was how the students displayed each of their individual work I think it was because they showed their passion for what they made themselves during the time they have been in the class. Also some students had the visitors particular intrigued in the class raising questions as well which was good as they will become more interest with the class and push them to think about joining the Web Design family. I think the overall setup of the room can be improved for next years CTE Expo due to the way it was setup there was not much space for the CTE students and the classes visiting as well so we were kind of crammed together trying to move from place to place. The CTE Expo had an energetic feeling due to Web Designs very own teacher who boasted about the class from the very beginning no doubt catching the attention of each visitor.

We basically discussed what are the requirements to pass with a CTE Diploma such as having completed an internship, as well as doing 30 hours of community service. What Does a CTE Diploma Means to Me?

            What diplomas can students receive in High School? There are different diplomas that students in High School can get but for each one they have different standards in order to achieve them. One of the diplomas that a student can receive is a Regents diploma this is the basic diploma students need to graduate High School with and can receive. The Advanced Regents diploma is a diploma that students can aim for while in High School this diploma is for students who have a taken more regents and whose grades exceed those of regular students. To get the Regents diploma, a student needs 8 English credits, 8 S.S credits, 6 Math  credits, 6 Science credits, 2 credits in LOTE, 4 credits in PE, 1 credit in Health, 2 credits in Art and 7 elective credits. CS Fair Reflection Journal

Taken from the CS Fair website             Today we the Web Design academy had the opportunity to go to the CS Fair held within the Armory Track. At first before the entire trip even started I was wondering what we might see at this event and I really wasn't prepared for what was actually there. Once we got to the location I was astonished to see how many people actually went and even how many companies, colleges, etc were there at the fair. The place was massive and there was so many things to do, people to talk to and I was dumbfounded in where to start. The first thing I did during the fair was try the different activities they had to offer including playing with lights, driving a robot which was created to complete in a competition and was built in around 30 days which was extremely impressive.
